My Sugar Cookie Recipe

Last year I created a video about my Halloween Cookies. A few days ago I started getting a lot of notices about a certain video. Here’s the video:

Someone asked about my sugar cookie recipe so I promised to post it here on my blog. So — here it is. I’m working on a new Halloween cookie video for this year and I’m super excited about what I’m creating. Look out for it this week.

Ingredients
  1. 1 c softened salted butter (I like the real stuff.)
  2. 1 1/2 c confectioner's sugar
  3. 1 egg
  4. 2-3 tsp vanilla flavor (You can substitute for the flavor of your choice.)
  5. 2 1/2 c all-purpose flour (I use unbleached flour.)
  6. 1 tsp baking powder
  7. 1 tsp salt
Instructions
  1. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together and set aside.
  2. Combine egg and flavor in a separate bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream together butter and sugar. (I recommend using a mixer.)
  4. Add your egg and flavor mixture to the butter and sugar mixture and mix thoroughly.
  5. Add your flour mixture in small doses to the mixer. This prevents a mess and also lets you achieve the perfect consistency.
  6. You know your dough is ready when it starts to stick to the paddle. It should not stick to your fingers.
  7. Roll out your dough to about 1/4 inch. I use flour to keep the dough from sticking. Now, cut your cookies.
  8. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-8 minutes.
Notes
  1. You can refrigerate your dough before baking if you'd like. This dough doesn't spread much.
  2. Let the dough rest just a little after mixing.
  3. You can double this recipe.
  4. You can freeze your cookies so baking a big batch ahead of time is easy and practical.
  5. Use the baking times as a guide. Err on the side of caution. I like to check my cookies at 6 minutes. If this is your first time, make sure you check early. Your cookies should have a little brown on the bottom but none on the top.
  6. Use an oven thermometer for best results.

    1. It says flavoring as in the vanilla extract. Maybe it’s reading weird on your screen. I’ll change it to extract to make sure it’s easy to read.

I'd love to hear from you!
